Adorned in his piercing red armor, bedecked with his crested shield and armed with his shimmering blade, Sir Matthew took steps towards the beast. They were calm, despite its clear ferocity, and his confidence was boundless. He'd fell others like it.

The monster swayed, gauging him, waiting for his move. Claws and tendrils lined its naturally tough exterior, and with its bared teeth it almost seemed to smile.

With one last glance, the knight charged headlong at the beast, shield at the ready and sword drawn back to attack. In response, the beast lunged in, making to grab with dozens of tendrils and rend him to pieces.

His shield was effective in bashing them away while the sword cleaved several at once as he fended off others. In time though, a few tendrils slipped past his watch and hoisted him by the leg, causing him to lose his sword in the process. It fell with a clang to the ground far below and he looked up to see his monstrous foe rearing its head to attack.

Thinking quickly he pointed his empty hand to the tendrils that held him, incited a short chant and loosed a jet of blue flame. With a roar of pain, tendrils tore off and Sir Matthew fell back to the ground, tucking and rolling the moment he made contact. He spun to his feet and rounded on his sword, charging to reacquire it.

His enemy crashed its claw over it, blocking it and causing him to hesitate momentarily. It was all the creature needed to sweep in and send the armored knight careening into a far wall. Before he could even remove himself from the impression, the claw collided with the wall too, effectively pinning him. With a growl and fanged sneer, the monster lowered its head slowly and confidently, growling menacingly.

Not about to give up, Sir Matthew started to push against the claw, much to the beasts amusement it seemed. Beginning a new chant, he felt power rush through him, and his opponent was caught by surprise as it witnessed the human force himself away from the wall and removed himself it's effective grasp. With a roll under the talons, he once again made for his sword.

Seeing this, and redoubling its efforts to destroy the knight, it opened it's gaping maw and loosed several bursts of golden energy. some missed completely, while others the knight managed to defend against with his shield, but now he was almost to his weapon. Rearing its head back and charging another, stronger burst, the great monster hurled a blast of energy that sent the knight tumbling away, loosing his shield as well.

Looking to his right, Sir Matthew found his sword in reach, and grasped the handle. Enraged at his rearmament, the monster threw itself onto him with the intent to crush him once and for all. In one last effort, he lifted his sword up and braced for the impact.

With a horrifying roar the blade pierced the beast as Sir Matthew vanished from sight beneath it. His end was not in vain, though, as his blade had become lodged in its heart, killing it and ending its reign of-

"Kids! Lunch is ready! Come and eat!" Arrir called from the kitchen.

the twenty-eight foot tall Nasseya perked her ears a bit and she lifted herself up from the bed, checking on the ten-year old Matt after carefully laying her stomach over him. He was wearing the metal plated armor of one of her action figures. The various pieces too big for him to wear properly, and thusly made quite a bit of noise as he jingled around in it. The shield was from the figure, but the sword one was one of Matt's own toys. Neither liked the idea of poking her with a metal toy sword, no matter how blunt.

All around the bed and room were plush toys of various shapes, having been hurled about to peg Matt. The pillow had a faint outline of Matt pressed into it with the spots visible where her finger tips had been.

Matt laughed giddily, pulling himself to his feet and making a racket while doing so. Playing 'Knight and Monster' was always lots of fun. With Nass being able to pick him up he could play in ways he couldn't with any other kids at school.

Nasseya's eyes were bright with life as she giggled playfully, nudging Matt about on the bed until she tipped him back into her hand. "First one there gets first dibs on the sweet bread!" she insisted.

"Hey! No fair! You always set me down after yourself!" came Matt indignantly. Some times it just wasn't fair to have an alaerin as a friend.
